About

Alison - Burnish and BrushMy wish is that my art will invoke memories that put a smile on your face. Remember jumping in puddles, your favourite Sunday dress, or licking that delicious ice cream on a lazy summer day? These simple pleasures, preserved in my original mixed media and collage art, inspire you to reflect on life’s meaningful moments.

Each print I create is individually handmade. The process involves applying several layers of Golden Acrylic Medium to a colour copy of my original work. After the layers have cured, the copy is soaked in water to remove the paper. Once this process is complete, what remain is a beautiful handmade reproduction, retaining all the vibrant colours and detail of the original piece.

Acrylic Medium reproductions will occasionally be embellished with handmade papers.

All original works and prints are mounted or created on a 2” deep wood panel. They are sealed with an archival varnish to protect the surface and papers, and do not require additional framing or glass. Simply unwrap, hang and enjoy.

Each piece is signed on the back and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. By the way, that little symbol after my name is Pitman’s Shorthand and means “Artistic”.

Originally from England, I was born and raised in Bristol. I came to Canada in 1988 and finally settled down just outside of Toronto.

I studied art via workshops and classes at the Toronto School of Art, as well as the Ontario College of Art & Design. I am an active member of the Newmarket Group of Artists, and participate in various shows and exhibitions within Toronto and surrounding areas.

My hope is that you enjoy my artwork – and make it your own. Please browse my available collections and feel free to contact me with any questions or special requests. I am happy to work with you to create a custom order.
